For today's little jaunt into your possible future we have to begin with a little jaunt into the past.   So first, take a look here.  I was born in the same year, just two months later, that FDR signed this into law so I have grown up with it.

And if you look carefully at the opening scene this is what you will see.  The Hooverville in Seattle that was famous for both it's size and for it's duration.  And this is where I grew up gang.  Not in the "luxury" of these city dwellers but not far away in a tent in the middle of a forest. 

And this is where my Great Uncle Leath lived after he had lost everything in the '29 crash.  This was a hollow ceder stump that he put a roof on, sawed a hole for the door and a window and then moved in.  With 9 kids.  Looks real cosy don't ya think?

Well, thanks to the social security law my Grandfather was able to retire in 1943 after he had lost everything in '29.  Everything!  Because prior to '34 there was no social security so he, being a very prudent man, had built 4 houses to be rented out so that he would have some sort of income once he was physically no longer able to work.  (That was when you retired back in those days.  Age had nothing to do with it.)  But after the crash he was immediately out of work and soon the houses were taken from him.  Not because he could not pay the mortgages, he wasn't so ignorant to fall into that trap, but because he could not pay the property taxes.  So the county council repossed them.  That the county council was dominated by the GOP and that my grandfather was a known Democrat and active labor organizer had nothing to do with it I am certain.  Although it was a bit odd that everyone else in the county was given a moratorium on the paying of property taxes with the exception of my Grandfather wouldn't you say?

But when he reached 63 years of age he could still retire.  Because of the only 9 year old social security law.  Something he had never dreamed of in all his life.  And keep in mind, my Grandfather went out to work when he was 9 years old!  Away from home, harvesting grain from Oklahoma all the way up into Canada.  And that my father went to work in the woods, cutting wood for a logging donkey when he was also 9.  (I Was a bit slow off the mark and didn't start working, doing stoop labor in the berry harvest, until I was 10.  But they always said I was a lazy little bastard!)

And now along comes this no account useless motherfucker who has never worked a single day in all his totally useless life.  A man born into a position of privilege that people like my family never even dared to dream of.  The son of a Navy admiral and this sonofabitch has the audacity to say the Social Security system is a disgrace!  Then, on top of that, when his poster girl wife had a bad car accident that left her not quite so beautiful any more he went out with his dick swinging and scored the big one.  A millionaire heiress.  And now the low life cocksucker wants to tell us the Social Security system is a disgrace?  What the fuck does he know about it?  Just like everything else that comes out of his filthy pie hole, he doesn't know shit.  And even if he does know he will lie about it if he thinks it will get him a single vote.
