Dumbest!

And all on their way home! Finally!

'Cause there's a new man in town.

Finally, this damn election is over and we have a new president.  And for once the American people have chosen the right person.  Well done Americans and you don't know what a relief it is for me to see you finally do the right thing and make the right choice.  For during my lifetime it has most often been just the opposite.  Just think, since I've been of voting age and allowed to vote.  Something I've not always been allowed to do since us Injuns didn't get the right to vote until 1970 although this had no meaning for me as I was officially a white man by virtue of the fact that my father was white.  But..............I was also a soldier for many years also and we didn't get the right to vote until the Kennedy/Nixon election of 1960.   But just think gang.  During my adulthood you have elected Nixon, Reagan, Bush Sr. and Deacon Dumb!  Not exactly a good record to my way of thinking.  But you have redeemed yourselves now and I congratulate you on doing so.

And I can also tell you that times are already changing for just last evening the new president elect phoned our president here in Spain and spoke with him for the better part of an hour.   Which is something of almost historic signifiance due to the fact that Deacon Dumb has not spoken to him for the best part of eight years.  And McSlime believed that Spain was somewhere in South America!  So it at least appears that relations with Europe are on the way to improving which is sore needed I can assure you.  And hopefully the era of American high handedness is at an end although I fear this will only be a pause and sooner or later you will regress to your old bad habits and again elect a Rethuglican who in his misguided belief in his Imperial superiority will again treat the rest of the world as if they were nothing but dependents of the United States and had best just follow along with what ever garbage comes out of the White House for their own well being.  And again I hope that I will again be proved wrong and this will not be the future but I fear the worst.  Although this could also be the last American President I will see taking my age into consideration for in 8 more years I will be in my eighties.  If I make it that far that is.

But let all that wait for the future for now I am a bit tired after all this election jazz and SWMBO and I, along with our guests, are going to have a little mini vacation and take a trip up to Cordoba.  One of my favorite cities here in Spain and this time we are going to stay a couple of days instead of do the same day return that has been my fate up till now.  And I promise, upon my honor, (Leave all the smart ass comments out please!) to take a scad of photos and post them so that you can all, vicariously at least, join us.  And to start you can go here and see where we will be staying which is right in the heart of the old Jewish quarter and only about 50 meters from the Grand Mosque.  And at only $75 per night it is a true bargain for hotels in Cordoba are not cheap due to the huge number of tourists that go there all year round.  The Grand Mosque being in more ways than one, unique in the world.

And we are off early tomorrow morning as it's about a 2.5 hour drive from here so you won't be hearing from me for a couple of days but this time it is not due to some Internet/computer disaster but a much needed bout of pure pleasure for a change.  And I can also inform you that they make some excellent vino in Cordoba which I will, in the pursuit of science of course, test in order to make certain that standards are being kept and that there has been no slacking off since I was there last.

So "Bye for now" gang.  Have a nice weekend where ever you may be and send loads of good thoughts my way as I will be doing for you.

AND I REMAIN

Greetings!  Well, I found this passage in a Victorian era Irish writer's
story - "Hertford O'Donnell's Warning", by Charlotte Riddell - which
perfectly captures the Rethuglican "value system", and simultaneously
explains its origin:
"Clatter along the streets with a pair of fine horses, snub the middle
classes, and drive over the commonality - that is the way to compass wealth
and popularity in England."
I am looking forward to your photo essay and narrative about this trip in
Cordoba.  Call it a vicarious birthday experience.  (I have turned 58 today,
November 11, 2008).
Cheers to you guys,
Isabelita

And a very happy birthday to you indeed.  Trip was great and many photos ensued.  Hope to get them posted in the next day or two.  Have to go see the doc today and our geusts are still living in my "Office" so getting at the 'puter is a bit complicated.  But I shall make a supreme effort, I promise.
